On the southern tip of Florida you will find the Everglades National Park, \u2018a river of grass\u2019 that serves as sanctuary for a large number of species, many of them threatened. This sub-tropical wilderness reserve, among other things, contains the largest mangrove ecosystem in the Western Hemisphere. Due to its biological importance it is part of the UNESCO \u2018World Heritage\u2019 sites list since 1979.<\/p>\n

One needs a special type of vehicle to be able to navigate The Everglades: airboats. An airboat is a vessel powered by an aircraft like propeller and engine, which makes it perfect for shallow and marshy areas like the ones found in this site.<\/p>\n

En el extremo sur de la Florida se encuentra el Parque Nacional de los Everglades, “un r\u00edo de hierba” que sirve como santuario para un gran n\u00famero de especies, muchas de ellas en peligro de extinci\u00f3n. Este desierto subtropical es una reserva de vida salvaje y, entre otras cosas, contiene el mayor ecosistema de manglares de todo el hemisferio occidental. Debido a su importancia biol\u00f3gica los Everglades forman parte de la lista de destinos considerados como “Patrimonio Mundial” por la UNESCO, desde 1979.<\/p>\n

Uno necesita un veh\u00edculo\u00a0especial para poder navegar Los Everglades: Hidrodeslizadores o aerobotes. Un hidrodeslizador es un bote propulsado por una h\u00e9lice y motor de aviaci\u00f3n, lo que le hace perfecto para \u00e1reas poco profundas y pantanosas como las que se encuentran en este destino.<\/p>\n
